Job summary

Oak View Group's Utah Valley Convention Center in Provo is seeking a Security Supervisor to lead on-site security operations for events and daily activities. Responsibilities include supervising security staff, coordinating shipping/receiving, and maintaining incident logs while ensuring guest safety and compliance with venue policies.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years in security, public safety, or law enforcement preferred.
• Supervisory experience in security preferred.
• Ability to stay calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Professional interaction with guests, staff, vendors, and public safety personnel.
• Basic computer proficiency (Outlook and Word).
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.
• Must possess, or have the ability to attain, a driver’s license.
• Ability to lift heavy objects as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate security staff during shifts and events.
• Conduct pre-shift briefings, assign posts, and communicate event details to security personnel.
• Assist in coordinating the flow of information from the Security Manager to security staff.
• Prepare and distribute work schedules; review event resumes to build staffing plans and post-shift reports.
• Maintain files of sign-in sheets for events and ensure all security logs are completed.
• Assist with training new security staff on venue policies and procedures.
• Monitor staff performance and provide coaching to maintain standards.
• Supervise all shipping and receiving items moving throughout the facility; log items entering and leaving the building.
• Coordinate with outside vendors to ensure proper load-in/out procedures.
• Support operations staff during event move-in, operations, and load-out activities.
• Monitor event activity areas and all entrances/exits.
• Perform routine patrols; lock/unlock doors and access points.
• Ensure proper access control procedures for staff, vendors, performers, and guests.
• Inspect packages, meeting rooms, and other areas for violations.
• Monitor and administer sign-in/out policies; monitor security systems and report abnormalities.
• Maintain radios, keys, and other security equipment; assist with surveillance as needed.
• Prepare and review incident reports for adherence to standards; take corrective measures when necessary.
• Maintain visibility and professionalism; respond to emergencies and requests for assistance.
• Assist in emergency preparedness programs and procedures, including evacuations.
