Job summary

George Mason University's Auxiliary Services and Operations seeks an Event Services Production Supervisor to oversee all AV and rental equipment for the Event Services unit. You will supervise staff, coordinate with production teams, and ensure smooth execution of high-profile events on site at Fairfax, VA.

You will develop and implement training programs, recruit and mentor staff, and manage vendor relationships while maintaining equipment and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience recruiting, developing training programs for staff, and supervising staff.
• Experience in event operations, support, and technology.
• Experience planning and implementing events.
• Knowledge of event operations and tech to include sound, lighting, video.
• Ability to recruit, train, and supervise part-time staff.
• Available to work outside regular hours.
• Valid driver’s license and compliance with Vehicle Use Policy 1411.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality production services by overseeing transport, setup, operation, and breakdown of equipment.
• Serve as onsite supervisor for high-profile events and coordinate staff.
• Work flexible shifts based on event demand to ensure support.
• Facilitate training on equipment handling and customer service.
• Create operation guides for staff training and reference.
• Develop and deliver staff training sessions and materials.
• Mentor and coach team members for on-the-job performance.
• Ensure maintenance of production resources and preventative upkeep.
• Evaluate and communicate strategies for issue resolution.
• Liaise with external contractors for equipment service and repairs.
• Contribute to master plan for equipment upgrades and budget oversight.
• Ensure in-house and portable AV systems are functional and well maintained.
• Oversee inventory organization and resource management.
• Maintain a database of equipment usage history and repairs.
• Implement barcode/tracking for equipment movement and storage.
• Optimize storage space usage with emphasis on safety and organization.
