Job summary

General Motors is seeking an Environmental Engineer at the Bay City facility to lead air, water and waste compliance initiatives. You will champion environmental stewardship, work across teams, and develop sustainable programs to reduce risk while supporting GM's Zero goals.

In this onsite role, you will engage with regulators, optimize Environmental Management Systems, and collaborate with peers at nearby GM sites to standardize practices and drive continuous improvement across the site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or a related science.
• Experience in environmental engineering or related sciences and/or regulations, including Air Permitting, Stormwater & Wastewater Permitting, and/or Hazardous Waste Generator Requirements, or other media.
• Demonstrated ability to execute projects.
• Ability to self-motivate and thrive in an independent work setting.

Responsibilities

• Drive environmental stewardship programs.
• Engage with local and state regulatory agencies.
• Develop creative solutions to environmental challenges.
• Utilize technology to develop and maintain Environmental Management Systems.
• Monitor parameters and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Support and improve system designs that protect the environment and incorporate new technologies.
• Understand plant manufacturing processes to support air, water, or waste media and manage EMS.
• Interface with business partners and regulators to prepare reports and compliance tests.
• Collaborate with other GM facilities to share best practices and standardize systems.
