Job summary

General Motors in Lansing seeks an Environmental Supervisor to lead environmental oversight at the local plant, drive process improvements, and support site sustainability initiatives. You’ll manage environmental programs, engage regulators, and mentor a team of professionals across facilities in the Lansing region.

The role emphasizes leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and travel to GM Lansing sites to provide environmental support and ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years’ experience in Air Permitting, Storm Water Permitting, Hazardous Waste Generator Requirements and/or related media.
• Experience in environmental engineering or related science, preferably at a manufacturing operation.
• Demonstrated ability to execute projects.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
• Must be willing to travel between facilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain environmental stewardship program strategies in support of GM’s mission.
• Engage with local regulatory agencies and prepare required regulatory documentation.
• Monitor environmental parameters and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Support plant designs that preserve the environment and integrate latest technologies.
• Lead a team of environmental professionals and coach/mentor staff.
