Job summary

Carnegie Mellon University (SEI) seeks an embedded software engineer to perform systems analysis and collaborate with customer teams in Huntsville, AL. The role involves advising on software development, cybersecurity, and performance from a cost/schedule perspective, with occasional support at other DoW sites.

The ideal candidate will have strong C/C++/Ada skills, experience with VHDL/Verilog, and familiarity with RTOS such as VxWorks, plus evidence of working on embedded software and related

Qualifications

• Degree and/or extensive professional software engineering experience in a collaborative team.
• Travel up to 25% to DoW sponsor sites and conferences as needed.
• Eligible to work in the United States; CMU sponsorship not provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide embedded software engineering support at customer locations (Huntsville, AL) and other sites.
• Analyze software architecture for quality attributes and apply disciplined methods.
• Evaluate DevSecOps practices tailored to customer domains.
• Assess cyber security approaches and tooling to mitigate risks.
• Review FPGA hardware/firmware interfaces for compliance with requirements.
