Actalent is seeking an EHS Engineer to oversee safety programs across construction, manufacturing, and capital projects. The role emphasizes proactive risk management, training, and incident investigations to improve safety performance onsite.

You will lead permit-to-work activities, conduct audits, and coordinate with contractors and project teams to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and site regulations.

Qualifications

• Experience in safety across construction, manufacturing, industrial, or capital-project environments.
• Experience with permit-to-work processes, including issuing permits, approvals, and safe completion.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses (JHA) and translate findings into safe work plans.
• Experience performing safety inspections and audits, monitoring PPE compliance, and enforcing regulations.
• Strong incident/near-miss investigation skills with root-cause analysis.
• Experience coordinating safety with contractors and subcontractors on complex projects.
• Knowledge of OSHA/EHS requirements relevant to construction and capital equipment.
• Ability to support safety program development and compliance.
• Effective communication for training and briefings.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-shift safety briefings, shift handoffs, site inspections, and toolbox talks.
• Issue, approve, and close permits to work with proper risk assessment and documentation.
• Monitor compliance with safety procedures and PPE; address non-compliance.
• Provide safety training and onboarding for employees, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Investigate incidents and near misses; document findings and corrective actions.
• Maintain safety records, logs, and project safety plans.
• Conduct routine safety audits, identify hazards, and coordinate risk assessments.
• Track safety performance data and report to project teams.
• Maintain and update safety plans and emergency procedures.
• Coordinate with contractors and site leadership to maintain a safe environment.
• Support development and improvement of safety programs for projects.
