Job summary

The University of Vermont Health Network is seeking a Patient Access Specialist ED for 100% onsite work at our Main Campus Emergency Department in Burlington, VT. This Per Diem role supports patient flow, admission access, and financial counseling.

You will work with EMS and ambulatory arrivals, ensure accurate registration and insurance management, and help educate patients while navigating complex regulations in a high-pressure ED setting.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of one year experience in customer service, registration, insurance management or administrative support in a clinical environment.
• EMT experience, medical assistant or technician in a busy clinical environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate emergent, urgent, transfer and admission access to the ED for ambulatory and EMS arrivals.
• Educate, support and financially manage patients in the emergency department.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing and support staff in a fast-paced environment to facilitate timely care.
