Job summary

The University of Vermont Health Network in Burlington, VT is seeking a Patient Access Specialist for the Emergency Department. This 100% onsite role focuses on rapid registration, insurance management and ED access coordination for emergent and urgent patients.

You will educate patients, assist with ADT transfers, and work with physicians, nurses and staff in a high-paced environment. EMT certification is preferred and at least one year in customer service or clinical administration is expected.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• EMT certification highly preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience in customer service, registration, insurance management or administrative support in a clinical setting.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally charged acute care environment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate emergent, urgent, transfer and admission access via ambulatory and EMS arrival.
• Educate patients, support families, and manage financial aspects in ED.
• Interview patients at bedside in collaboration with physicians, nursing and support staff.
• Navigate regulatory requirements across multiple information systems to support ED operations.
