Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the development of complex pharmacy automation systems on a 6-month contract-to-hire basis, onsite in Durham, NC. The role focuses on requirements development, system architecture, and cross-functional collaboration across software, firmware, hardware, electrical, and mechanical teams.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years of Systems Engineering experience, familiarity with V-Model, verification/validation, and working in regulated environments

Qualifications

• 8+ years of Systems Engineering experience in electromechanical products or medical devices.
• Experience with cross-disciplinary collaboration across software, firmware, hardware, electrical, and mechanical teams.
• Knowledge of System Engineering methodologies and V-Model development processes.

Responsibilities

• Translate customer and business needs into system requirements and design inputs.
• Decompose requirements into subsystem requirements.
• Develop and influence system architecture for complex automation platforms.
• Collaborate with software, firmware, hardware, electrical, and mechanical teams.
• Serve as liaison between product, marketing, regulatory, and engineering teams.
• Support design tradeoff analysis and technical decision-making.
• Ensure requirements are testable and support verification and validation activities.
• Translate regulatory requirements into product requirements.
• Support product development throughout the full lifecycle.
