Job summary

Salute is seeking a Critical Facility Engineer II for on-site duties in Cheyenne, WY. The role focuses on maintaining electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems to ensure uptime above 99.999%.

You will perform preventative maintenance, respond to emergencies, and coordinate with vendors and clients in a fast-paced data center environment. The position requires deep knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, and building automation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of directly related experience operating, installing, and maintaining data center critical equipment and building systems.
• High school diploma or GED and two+ years’ experience in electrical systems, refrigeration and/or HVAC, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of data center electrical and mechanical systems including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS, PDU, HVAC, CRAC and related control systems.
• Good observation skills and problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems.
• Complete planned and ad-hoc preventive maintenance work assignments requiring multiple engineering trades.
• Inspect building systems (HVAC, electrical distribution) and maintain mechanical equipment rooms.
• Rapid response to emergency situations and air quality issues.
• Create, close, and track work requests; initiate or respond to work orders and verify completion.
• Monitor performance and assess deficiencies of service contractors; recommend changes.
• Support delivery of data center services including colocation and network services.
• Interact as operational contact for data center customers, vendors, and carriers.
• Assist with IT/infrastructure tasks and test cable paths in IT rooms.
• Coordinate access with third-party contractors for cabling and equipment installations.
• Support offsite points-of-presence and maintenance of infrastructure.
