Job summary

Northeast Kingdom Human Services (NKHS) is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the financial operations, reporting to the CFO. This onsite role in Newport, VT, oversees the business office, including accounting, cash receipts, and accounts payable, with a focus on accurate GAAP-based reporting.

The Controller will manage the monthly close, prepare draft statements for review, supervise accounting staff, and support year-end audits and state reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration.
• 6+ years of related experience.
• Excellent management and supervisory skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in accounting software and MS Office.
• Leadership and staff development abilities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
• Manage the general ledger system and post journal entries.
• Prepare monthly financial reports for the finance committee, Board, and State Partners.
• Oversee Accounts Payable and payroll processes.
• Support annual audits and tax reporting and ensure GAAP compliance.
