Job summary

Vaco/Highspring is seeking a hands-on Controller to partner closely with the executive leadership team. You will own day-to-day accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and strengthen internal controls.

Responsibilities include leading the monthly close, overseeing AP/AR and payroll, preparing statements and journal entries, and providing analysis to guide strategic decisions. A background in construction or project-based environments is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Experience in accounting or controllership with increasing responsibility.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting and month-end close.
• Construction or project-based industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process.
• Oversee AP, AR, payroll, and daily accounting operations.
• Prepare financial statements, reconciliations, and journal entries.
• Perform cost accounting, job costing, profitability analysis, and commission calculations.
• Manage multi-state sales & use tax filings and 1099 reporting.
• Partner with the CFO on financial reporting, internal controls, and process improvements.
• Lead and mentor the accounting team while ensuring strong segregation of duties.
