Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead accounting and finance operations in a structured, lean environment in Atlanta, GA. You will oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closes, financial reporting, treasury activities, and internal controls while partnering with executive leadership on strategic initiatives.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, an active CPA, and 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience within the insurance

• Active CPA designation.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Experience in the insurance industry.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.
• Maintain the general ledger, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Oversee regulatory and compliance-related financial reporting.
• Manage cash, banking relationships, and investments.
• Monitor operational transactions for accurate recording and reporting.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls and financial processes.
• Ensure audit compliance and corporate policies.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
• Partner with executive leadership on strategic financial initiatives.
• Serve as primary contact for external auditors and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Manage income tax accounting including current and deferred provisions.
