Vaco by Highspring is seeking a Technical Accounting Lead to drive key GAAP initiatives, close processes, and cross-functional collaborations within a fast-growing tech finance team. The role demands hands-on expertise in complex accounting topics and scalable control development.

The ideal candidate has a CPA, 8+ years of experience across public accounting and industry, and strong communication skills to explain complex issues to non-finance stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
• 8+ years of accounting experience in public accounting and industry.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge across US GAAP: revenue, leases, stock-based comp, consolidations, business combos.
• Experience supporting external audits and preparing technical memos.
• Clear communication of complex topics to non-finance stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical accounting initiatives and implement policies and related processes.
• Own accounting and close activities for infrastructure investments, leases, and fixed assets.
• Research and document positions across revenue recognition, leases, SaaS capitalization, and other GAAP topics.
• Review contracts and vendor agreements to determine proper accounting treatment.
• Support monthly close with journals, reconciliations, and analyses.
• Partner with operations to develop scalable controls and workflows.
• Assist external audits and prepare memoranda and audit-ready schedules.
• Drive process improvements and accounting infrastructure enhancements.
