Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle seeks a Clinical Trial Specimen Processing Specialist I to support oncology trials. Responsible for collecting, preparing, processing, documenting, storing and shipping research specimens per study protocols and SOPs.

The role collaborates with lab staff, coordinators, clinic personnel and investigators, ensuring timely handling of specimens and adherence to regulatory requirements. Onsite work and flexible hours including some evenings are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Science, or related field.
• Associate degree in a scientific field and one year of laboratory experience.
• High School Diploma/GED and three years of laboratory experience.

Responsibilities

• Process clinical trial specimens per study protocols and SOPs, including preparation, centrifugation, aliquoting, labeling, storage and shipment.
• Perform routine lab techniques for clinical trial specimens (serum, plasma, PBMC).
• Prepare, package and ship specimens to central labs while meeting timelines.
• Complete requisition forms, specimen tracking, shipping docs and study records accurately.
• Maintain ALCOA+ records of collection, processing, storage and shipment per GDP and regs.
• Assist with preparation and maintenance of lab kits and supplies.
• Monitor inventories and notify leadership of supply/storage needs.
• Collaborate with lab staff, coordinators, clinic personnel and investigators.
• Follow safety, biosafety, GCP, regulatory requirements and confidentiality.
• Support daily lab operations and other duties to ensure compliant activities.
• Travel between Fred Hutch locations to retrieve/transport/process specimens.
• Support after-hours specimen collection/processing as needed.
