Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Carpenter to construct and repair building frameworks, stairways, doorframes, partitions, and related structures at our job sites in Washington, DC. The role requires reading blueprints, measuring materials, and following safety protocols in a safety-sensitive environment.

The position emphasizes attention to detail, reliability, and strong communication with teammates and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Follow safe work practices per safety program.
• Must take initiative and ask questions.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Provide own safety footwear.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers and stakeholders.
• Strong mathematical reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Assist with assembly and removal of concrete forms used for concrete installation.
• Assist with building and installing window-frames, doors, doorframes, staircases, partitions, millwork, trim, siding, drywall, and overall building frames.
• Ensure that layout of flooring, roofing, and drywall are leveled and compatible.
• Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp project requirements.
• Measure and calculate material quantities, cut, shape, and fit material as required.
• Load, unload and distribute materials, tools and equipment.
• Participate in area housekeeping and jobsite safety.
• Secure the jobsite and store materials properly at day’s end.
