Job summary

Nextpower is seeking a BESS Technician to install, commission, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair Battery Energy Storage Systems on-site in Southern California. Applicants should have deep knowledge of battery tech, electrical systems, and EMS to support reliable power infrastructure.

You will collaborate with project engineers, perform routine maintenance, diagnose faults, monitor via SCADA, and ensure safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Renewable Energy, or related field.
• 1-5 years experience with battery storage systems; inverter maintenance is a plus.
• OSHA 10/30 preferred; electrician/energy technician certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission BESS components (batteries, inverters, control systems).
• Perform commissioning and configuration of BESS per specs.
• Collaborate with project engineers for EMS integration.
• Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshoot to ensure safety.
• Identify faults, test components, and resolve inefficiencies.
• Monitor systems via SCADA; assess performance and optimize.
• Ensure safety compliance and adhere to regulations.
• Provide technical support and trainings to customers and team.
