Nextpower LLC is seeking a BESS Technician to install, commission, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair Battery Energy Storage Systems onsite in Southern California. The role requires strong knowledge of electrical systems, battery tech, and energy management software; travel and outdoors work are expected.

The candidate will report to the Service Manager and collaborate with project engineers to ensure seamless EMS integration, while upholding safety standards and industry regulations.

Formación

• Associate degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 1–5 years of experience with battery storage systems.
• Experience with renewable inverter maintenance and troubleshooting is a plus.
• Certification as an electrician or energy technician is a plus.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred.

Job Summary

The BESS Technician will report to the Service Manager and will be responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing of the Battery Energy Storage Systems. Extensive technical knowledge in battery technologies, electrical systems, and energy management systems are crucial in this role.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Installation and Commissioning

• undefined Install BESS components such as batteries, inverters, control systems, and associated electrical equipment required.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

• undefined Identify and resolve faults and inefficiencies in BESS equipment.
• undefined Test electrical and electronic components with tools that are appropriate, and company approved for BESS equipment.
• undefined Conduct maintenance and troubleshooting on inverters and medium voltage transformers.

System Monitoring and Operation

• undefined Evaluate system performance and make recommendations accordingly to optimize efficiency.

Safety and Compliance

• undefined Adhere to all local and industry standards and regulations.

Technical Support

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Education & Experience

• Associate degree or certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
• 1-5 years of experience working with battery storage systems, or a related field.
• Experience with renewable (wind/solar/BESS) inverter maintenance and troubleshooting is a plus.
• Certification as an electrician or energy technician is a plus.
• Certification in OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred.
• Relevant BESS technology experience with Fluence/Tesla/Powin is preferred.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Must reside in Central to Southern California.
• Must be willing to work predominantly outdoors in various work environments.
• Must be able to lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Minimum of 25% travel required.
• Must have the ability to work with potentially hazardous and high‑voltage equipment.
• Regular standing, bending, and reaching.
• Strict adherence to safety protocols is required.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.

Pay is based on market location and may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related considerations. The annual target total cash compensation for this position is $90,000–$110,000, which includes base salary and target commission. Actual compensation may vary based on sales target achievements.
