Job summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking a Special Events Coordinator - A/V Technician to support comprehensive audio/visual services for events at the Hyde Park campus. The role involves leading the Special Events Services group, coordinating schedules, and ensuring exceptional customer service for faculty, staff, and clients.

The successful candidate will manage equipment setup/teardown, troubleshoot malfunctions, and assist with proposals, billing, and invoicing while maintaining inventory and records.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in audio/visual communications or similar technical experience.
• Demonstrated experience in leading a team in a customer-service, oriented position.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and organizational skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems quickly and effectively; flexibility to work additional hours as requested.
• Experience with LAN/Windows and digital video editing software.

Responsibilities

• Operate all audio/visual equipment to assist staff, faculty, and clients.
• Manage scheduling of A/V equipment with academic programs throughout the year.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to remedy problems before impact to programs.
• Develop relationships with staff and faculty; maintain logs and inventory.
• Lead by example, set standards for customer satisfaction and service quality.
• Prepare client proposals for A/V and Special Events at UCMC.
