Job summary

Hertz is hiring an Onsite Automotive Technician in Hilo, HI. The role focuses on diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and complex repairs with leadership responsibilities in a team environment.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years of vehicle maintenance experience, owns required tools, and holds a valid driver’s license. ASE certification and state safety licensing are valued assets in this onsite position.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of vehicle maintenance experience.
• Must have tools to perform necessary repairs.
• ASE Certification preferred/not required but encouraged.
• State Safety Inspection License required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics and complex repairs including engine and transmission work.
• Lead and mentor junior technicians as needed.
• Conduct preventative maintenance to keep equipment in running condition.
• Operate lifts and diagnostic tools to efficiently service vehicles.

The Onsite Automotive Technician is the top of our maintenance team with a focus on diagnostic and repair. This role will work to keep all equipment in running condition through our effective preventative maintenance program, as well as taking on the responsibility of handling complex repairs such as engine and transmission overhauls. This position is a master technician and assumes a leadership role with product knowledge and a standard of quality.

What You’ll Get:

• Hourly Rate is $26.50 + median incentive is approximately $449/month, varies based on job performance
• Sign-on Bonus: $3,000 ($1,500 paid at 180 and 360 days of employment)

Educational Background:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Trade School Preferred
  

Professional Experience:

• At minimum three (3) years of vehicle maintenance experience
  

Knowledge:

• Must be able to perform vehicle repairs without oversight
• Ability to repair vehicles independently, while also having experience working well in a team environment
• Experience using shop equipment such as lifts, tire changing equipment, alignment machines, and scan tools
