We are seeking an Onsite Automation Team Lead to lead a team of approximately 10–12 automation technicians supporting the client’s automated warehouse operations. The lead is responsible for team scheduling, daily work execution, KPI performance, and coordination with the client and HAI support teams.
This is a working lead position. The lead will regularly perform troubleshooting, equipment recovery, preventive maintenance, and repairs alongside the team while ensuring adequate coverage, clear priorities, and timely follow-through across shifts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Team leadership & Scheduling
- Create and maintain team schedules across the site’s operating shifts, balancing required coverage, technician skills, planned maintenance, training, and time off.
- Assign daily work and adjust priorities as incidents and production needs change. Coordinate absence coverage and elevate staffing gaps or overtime needs to HAI management.
- Lead shift briefings and ensure complete handovers covering equipment status, open incidents, maintenance work, safety concerns, and next-shift priorities.
- Coach technicians, support onboarding and cross-training, verify work quality, and provide performance feedback to team members and HAI management.
Hands On Technical Support
- Actively diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and operational issues affecting HAI robots, HAIPORTs, and associated equipment within the agreed support scope.
- Perform and support preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, component replacement, and equipment recovery using approved procedures.
- Respond to production interruptions, coordinate safe equipment restoration, and verify normal operation before returning equipment to service.
- Support WES and ESS issue investigation by collecting logs, documenting symptoms, and coordinating with HAI remote engineering on complex faults.
- Maintain accurate service records and ensure technicians document findings, work completed, parts used, and unresolved issues.
- Own the accuracy, review, and reporting of onsite service KPIs against agreed targets, including downtime, mean time between failures (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), recovery times, preventive maintenance completion, and staffing coverage.
- Review recurring errors and equipment failures, identify performance gaps, and assign corrective actions with clear owners and due dates.
- Coordinate root cause analyses for major incidents and track corrective actions through completion and effectiveness checks.
- Prepare monthly performance reports covering reliability trends, highest-impact errors and equipment, remediation progress, spare-parts consumption, and inventory status.
- Escalate risks to service commitments promptly and recommend practical improvements to maintenance practices, team capability, and equipment reliability.
Customer Coordination & Site Standards
- Serve as the primary onsite technical escalation point and day-to-day liaison between the client, the onsite team, and HAI remote support and management.
- Communicate incident status, operational impact, recovery progress, and maintenance plans clearly. Coordinate maintenance windows with client operations.
- Track critical spare-parts availability and coordinate replenishment needs to reduce avoidable repair delays.
- Ensure adherence to HAI and site safety procedures, including equipment isolation and lockout/tagout. Stop and elevate unsafe work.
Qualifications
Education
- Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields or comparable experience
Required Experience
- Demonstrated hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial automation, robotics, material-handling equipment, or comparable electromechanical systems.
- Previous experience leading technicians, coordinating shift coverage, and managing competing maintenance and production priorities.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and electrical diagrams, use diagnostic tools, and troubleshoot systematically.
- Experience using maintenance or ticketing systems and spreadsheets to manage work, analyze KPIs, and prepare clear reports.
- Strong communication, coaching, organization, and customer service skills. Experience with HAI systems, warehouse software, and root cause analysis is preferred.
- Technical training in automation, mechatronics, electrical or mechanical maintenance, or equivalent practical experience.

Work Environment and Schedule
- This role is based onsite in an active warehouse environment and requires regular hands-on work on the floor. Schedule flexibility is required to support shift transitions, planned maintenance, and assigned escalation coverage, including nights or weekends as scheduled. The lead must be able to perform the essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
