Apex Systems is seeking an onsite API Technical Writer for our client based in Greensboro, NC. This 6-12 month contract role focuses on driving the API documentation roadmap and creating user-focused content.

You will own documentation across multiple API portfolios, develop tutorials, FAQs, release notes, and implementation best practices, and ensure accurate endpoint references, parameters, and sample code. Candidates should have 3+ years as a technical writer focused on APIs and RESTful APIs.

Qualifications

• 3+ years as a Technical Writer with a focus on API documentation.
• Understand RESTful APIs (integrations, workflows).
• Soft skills – driver who can delegate.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the API documentation roadmap, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement.
• Build, prioritize, and manage a backlog of documentation enhancements across multiple API portfolios.
• Create and maintain comprehensive API documentation including endpoint references, parameters, request/response examples, authentication guidance, error handling, and sample code.
• Develop tutorials, onboarding guides, FAQs, troubleshooting documentation, release notes, and best practices.
