Job summary

EMCORE LLC in Concord, CA is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee daily manufacturing in an aerospace production environment focused on quartz MEMS. You will ensure safe, efficient operations and drive yield improvements through lean methods.

You will lead cross-functional teams, develop staffing plans, manage KPIs, and align with AS9100/ISO9001 standards while guiding continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field.
• 5+ years of supervision/management in aerospace, defense, or complex precision electronics manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of AS9100 or similar quality standards and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma or other CI methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day production activities across assigned manufacturing areas.
• Develop staffing plans, shift schedules, labor allocation, and skills training.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001 and related aerospace standards.
• Drive throughput, productivity and cost improvements while maintaining quality and safety.
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and PM to support production readiness.
• Develop, monitor and adapt KPIs such as on-time delivery, scrap/rework, cycle time, and labor efficiency.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for production challenges.
• Manage production equipment, tooling needs, preventive maintenance priorities, and facility support.
• Support development, planning, and execution for new product introductions and process changes.
• Prepare operations reports and present performance updates to leadership.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
