Job summary

Bernard Nickels & Associates is seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist to back the Finance Manager with day-to-day accounting tasks, invoice processing, reconciliations, and month-end close. The role requires 2-5 years of accounting experience, GAAP proficiency, and use of QuickBooks and Excel.

The position is onsite in Warren, MI, with a 3-month contract starting ASAP and potential extension. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• 2-5 years of accounting experience required.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Understanding of accrual accounting preferred.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Enterprise.
• Experience with PeopleSoft is a plus.
• Intermediate Excel skills (PivotTables and VLOOKUP).
• Familiarity with inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounting transactions.
• Identify and reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing data.
• Review and process Quick Invoices against receiving documentation.
• Prepare financial packages containing invoices, timesheets, bid packages, and supporting documentation.
• Follow up with internal stakeholders to resolve billing and invoice questions.
• Complete monthly reconciliations of transportation and hauler invoices.
• Build and maintain accurate records of receipts and supporting documentation.
• Maintain organized documentation for financial projects.
• Assist with PeopleSoft accounting transactions.
• Support monthly close activities and meet reporting deadlines.
• Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Participate in and manage assigned accounting and finance projects.
