Job summary

GE Vernova’s Wind Hub is seeking a Wind Hub Technician to maintain turbine operations, perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, and support site safety and quality controls across Texas Hub 15 wind sites.

You will work with Site Lead and Manager, travel to multiple turbine sites, lift up to 45 lbs, climb towers, and participate in rotating shifts; minimum 1 year wind technician experience or 2 years with hydraulics, electrical, and basic tools.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, and
• Minimum of 1 year(s) experience as a Wind Technician or Wind Mechanic
• OR Minimum of 2 years of work experience inclusive of hydraulic, electrical, and experience using basic power hydraulic tools, AND Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment, basic computer skills.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
• Ability and willingness to lift repetitive weight of up to 45 lbs. unassisted and climb towers of 300+ feet regularly.
• Meet specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300lbs including required gear.
• Understand electrical schematic drawings, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations.
• Ability and willingness to work in range of environments to include but not limited to industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities
• Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules, and on-call per site needs.

Responsibilities

• Work with site leadership to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements and activities set forth with daily, which include any portion of the electrical and mechanical equipment used in the GE wind turbine generator.
• Perform maintenance, repair or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions;
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch & variable speed turbines;
• Help in all areas of site operations as directed by manager with minimal supervision,
• Perform some diagnostic electrical analysis;
• Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures and
• Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary.
