Job summary

California Virtual Academies (CAVA) is seeking a High School Teacher - Social Science for a fully remote role. You will deliver standards-based instruction online, manage homeroom cohorts, and engage students through targeted supports and interventions.

The position requires a California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Social Science, a Bachelor's degree, and strong communication skills. This virtual role includes collaboration with families, coaches, and regional staff across the state.

Qualifications

• Requires California residency and valid Single Subject Teaching Credential with Social Science authorization.
• Bachelor's degree required; Master’s preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to support adults and students.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and collaboration tools.
• Ability to manage time, organize activities, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Orient students to courses and explain requirements via multiple channels.
• Support homeroom students with attendance, schedules, and progress.
• Provide small-group and direct instruction on course content.
• Participate in coaching and develop instruction to meet goals.
• Address IEPs and coordinate testing and accommodations as needed.
• Communicate with families and document interactions per policy.
• Travel to assigned geographic areas for activities and events.
• Maintain timely grade entries and progress reporting.
