Job summary

The City of Boston’s Office of Youth Engagement and Advancement (OYEA) seeks a Special Projects Fellow for a one-year rotating position. The role supports youth programs, coordinates seasonal projects, and collaborates with city agencies and community partners.

Strong organization, attention to detail, and public service interest are essential. Responsibilities include project management, budgeting, outreach, translations, and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of full, or equivalent part-time, experience.
• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred and may be substituted for two years of required experience.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee rotating and seasonal projects within OYEA with timelines, deliverables, and follow-up.
• Maintain organized project files, documentation, and shared resources.
• Actively communicate with city agencies, community organizations, schools, and external stakeholders.
• Support meaningful youth engagement efforts, including outreach, focus groups, listening sessions, and representation at city-wide events.
• Assist with purchasing, space reservations, outreach campaigns, and other logistical tasks as required.
• Track project budgets, invoices, and procurement needs in coordination with OYEA staff.
• Assist with connecting Language Other Than English (LOTE) speakers with translation and language services as needed.
• Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and accountability when working with youth and City stakeholders.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
• Perform related work as required.
