Job summary

YES Prep in Houston, TX seeks a Special Education Teaching Assistant to support both Special and General Education teachers. The role emphasizes one-to-one student support, behavior management, and implementing individualized instruction to meet diverse needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• At least 30 college credit hours.
• Current Educational Aide certification or willingness to obtain it from TEA.
• Interest in working one-on-one with a student with significant needs including medical needs.
• Ability to physically assist students with self-help, mobility, academic, and behavioral skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Special Education and General Education teachers with supervision of students in all instructional settings.
• Model and reinforce positive behaviors to support behavior management.
• Maintain data per teacher IE P goals and behavior plans.
• Tailor lessons to meet individual student needs.
• Support with lesson plans by practicing and reinforcing concepts.
• Assist students in performing self-help and academic skills.
• Provide one-to-one support for a student with significant needs.
• Assist with administration and scoring of tests and assignments.
• Implement accommodations/modifications as directed; adapt activities and materials as needed.
• Monitor student transitions and school day activities.
• Provide personal care services as needed.
