YES Prep Public Schools in Houston, TX seeks a Special Education Teaching Assistant for a 10-month term. You will assist both Special Education and General Education teachers, support behavior management, and tailor lessons to individual student needs.

This role includes providing one-to-one support and helping with data collection for IEP goals and behavior plans. The position emphasizes collaboration, resilience, and a commitment to YES Prep’s mission, with opportunities for professional

Competenze

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 30 semester hours college or post-secondary education credit.
• Current Educational Aide certification or willingness to acquire from the TEA.
• Interest in working one-on-one with a student with significant needs.
• Ability to physically assist students with self-help, mobility, academic, and behavioral skills.
• Belief in and commitment to the mission and core value of YES Prep Public Schools.

Mansioni

• Assist Special Education and General Education teachers with supervision of students in all instructional settings.
• Assist with behavior management techniques by demonstrating, modeling, and positively reinforcing desired behaviors.
• Maintain data as identified by teacher goals, IEPs, and Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Tailor lessons to meet an individual student’s needs.
• Support teachers with lesson plans by practicing and reinforcing concepts.
• Assist students in performing self-help and academic skills.
• Serve as a one-to-one full-time support for a student with significant needs.
• Assist with administration and scoring of tests and work assignments.
• Assist with accommodations and modifications.
