Job summary

Girls Leadership Academy of Wilmington is seeking a dedicated Exceptional Children’s Teacher Assistant to support a student with special needs in a full-time, 10-month role (August-May). The position runs 7:45am-3:30pm with a compensation of $16.07 per hour, reporting to the EC Coordinator.

Responsibilities include assisting with IEP goals, personal care tasks, data collection, and collaborating with teachers and families to promote inclusive learning and student success at GLOW.

Qualifications

• EXPERIENCE: Demonstrated ability to teach and support in the appropriate subject area
• ENVIRONMENT: Demonstrated ability to build a warm, inclusive classroom environment and strong relationships with students and families
• CURRICULUM: Ability to implement rigorous lessons aligned to NC standards
• WHOLE GIRL: Awareness of educational issues for a diverse population of girls from high-needs communities

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers in devising and adapting strategies for student learning and monitor progress toward IEP goals
• Assist student with toileting and personal care tasks with respect and dignity
• Document and report student progress to the educational team
• Ensure safety and wellbeing of students and supervise during transitions and non-classroom activities
• Collaborate with teacher, team members, and parents
