Job summary

Yorktown Central School District is seeking a dedicated Teacher Aide to support the classroom learning process under supervision of a certified teacher. The role covers a range of tasks from assisting with homework checks to preparing charts and materials.

Incumbents may work with students with special needs, provide personal assistance, and help with mobility and daily activities as required in the classroom setting.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent diploma.
• Experience working with children.
• Fingerprint Clearance.
• Completion of required State Workshops on Child Abuse, School Safety and Dignity for All Students.
• Approval by the Westchester Department of Civil Services.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance in direct support of a teacher in tasks like checking homework, averaging grades, attendance, and preparing charts.
• Provides physical aid to the teacher and students, sets up materials, and supports audio-visual presentations.
• Assists in proctoring and administration of examinations.
• May work one-on-one with students with disabilities, assisting with notes, mobility, and personal care as needed.
• Supports students with disabilities in use of technology and equipment to facilitate learning.
