Job summary

Yorktown Central School District is seeking a part-time Teacher Aide (Mohansic) to support certified teachers and assist students in a classroom setting. This role may involve one-on-one support for students with special needs and helping with routine classroom tasks.

Under supervision, the aide will assist with a range of duties from checking homework and attendance to setting up audio-visual materials and helping students with mobility and personal-care needs as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency is required.
• Experience working with children is required.
• Completion of required State Workshops on Child Abuse, School Safety and Dignity for All Students.
• Approval by the Westchester Department of Civil Services required.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-classroom support, check homework, assist with attendance and filing.
• Provide physical aid to the teacher and set up presentations and materials.
• Assist in proctoring exams and other related tasks.
• Assist students with disabilities as one-on-one aide including mobility and personal needs.
• Assist students with technology and equipment to facilitate learning.
• Maintain order in classroom and corridors when needed.
