Job summary

Young World Physical Education is hiring an ASL Interpreter for a one-on-one role at Vancouver Public Schools. This position requires certification in American Sign Language and relevant experience, working 6.5 hours per day for 9 months.

The ideal candidate will assist hearing-impaired students in various educational settings, ensuring effective communication and support. Salary ranges from $30.93 to $36.35 hourly with associated benefits.

Qualifications

• Certified by the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), both written and performance.
• Graduate from an Interpreter Training Program preferred.
• Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language (ASL), both voice-to-sign and sign-to-voice.

Responsibilities

• Assist hearing impaired students in mainstream classrooms.
• Interpret for hearing impaired students participating in regular classes.
• Serve as a positive role model for students.

Skills

Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)

Certified by EIPA or passed National Interpreting Certification

Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds

Communication Skills

Education

High school degree or comparable equivalent

Thirty (30) semester credits from an accredited institution
