Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools in Washington state seeks an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter (Level II) to support deaf and hard-of-hearing students across classrooms and events. The position is 6.5 hours per day, 9 months per year, non-exempt and requires strong ASL fluency and professional interpretation skills.

Qualifications

• ASL fluency and interpretation skills required.
• EIPA or National Interpreting Certification required.
• Post-secondary credits and interpreter training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interpret for hearing-impaired students in classroom and extracurricular settings.
• Assist hearing-impaired students in mainstream classrooms using ASL.
• Coordinate with teachers to convey lesson plans and support learning.
• Move between schools to address student needs when required.
• Maintain regular attendance to meet program requirements.
