Job summary

Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC) invites a skilled Oncology Veterinary Technician to join our expanding 42,000-square-foot facility in the Portland, ME area. You will administer chemotherapy under our oncologists, support diagnostics, and ensure smooth patient flow and scheduling for oncology cases.

Prospective candidates should be licensed or credentialed veterinary technicians or experienced veterinary assistants with strong communication and organizational skills,

Qualifications

• Licensed or credentialed veterinary technician.
• Experience in oncology or specialty medicine preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Familiarity with EzyVet or SmartFlow is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and chemotherapy under oncologist supervision.
• Assist with diagnostics, including laboratory work, imaging, and CT.
• Support oncology appointments, patient flow, and scheduling.
• Assist with radioactive I-131 program for hyperthyroid cats.
• Maintain accurate medical records, treatment notes, and drug logs.
• Educate and communicate compassionately with clients.
• Collaborate with Internal Medicine, Surgery, Radiology, and other specialty teams.
• Provide patient-centered care and support throughout treatment.
