Job summary

Veritas Veterinary Partners is hiring Veterinary Technicians for its Oncology department. The role focuses on nursing care for oncology patients, chemotherapy administration under veterinarian supervision, and maintaining records in a collaborative, high-quality care environment.

Ideal candidates are CVT/LVT or have 2+ years of experience, with strong math, IV therapy, anesthesia, and client-education skills.

Qualifications

• CVT/LVT preferred, or minimum 2 years’ experience as a Veterinary Technician.
• Oncology experience valued or strong desire to learn.
• Strong understanding of medical math, drug calculations, and IV therapy.
• Experience with anesthetic and patient monitoring.
• Proficiency in basic laboratory testing and specimen handling.
• Solid knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and normal vs. abnormal values.
• Commitment to patient safety and meticulous attention to detail.
• Desire to mentor and support veterinary assistants and fellow team members.
• Ability to thrive in a compassionate, highly collaborative team environment.
• Excellent communication, organization, and client-education skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with and monitor patients undergoing oncology procedures and treatments.
• Prepare, calculate, and safely administer chemotherapy and supportive medications as directed by the veterinarian.
• Follow proper chemotherapy handling, safety, and waste-disposal protocols.
• Place and maintain IV catheters, administer fluid therapy, and manage CRIs.
• Obtain and process blood, urine, and other diagnostic samples for monitoring oncology patients.
• Accurately maintain medical records, treatment sheets, and chemotherapy logs.
• Monitor patients for treatment reactions, assess pain and comfort levels, and intervene as needed.
• Provide attentive nursing care and emotional support to hospitalized oncology patients.
• Act as a strong patient advocate, prioritizing comfort, dignity, and quality of life.
• Educate clients on chemotherapy protocols, at-home care, potential side effects, and monitoring needs
