University of Michigan Health’s Sparrow Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for Hematology/Medical Oncology in the physician clinic setting in Lansing, MI. The RN provides expert nursing care, assessment, education, and coordination with physicians and the care team to support patients through their oncology treatment.

Responsibilities include symptom management, documentation, referrals, and care coordination.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nursing is required; Bachelor’s in Nursing is preferred.
• Oncology certification (OCN) is preferred; if not, oncology CE hours are required.
• BLS and Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Provider card must be obtained within 60 days.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with patients and care teams.
• Ability to develop individualized nursing care plans and demonstrate clinical judgment.

Responsabilités

• Provide direct patient care within established protocols under physician direction.
• Assess patient needs and initiate nursing interventions while supporting ongoing medical care.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, procedures, and symptom management.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and communications.
• Coordinate laboratory tests, referrals, and follow-up to ensure timely treatment.
• Communicate patient information and changes in condition to the care team.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to support comprehensive oncology care.
• Assist with navigation of referral and authorization processes for timely access to care.
• Serve as a resource and preceptor for new associates and students.
• Participate in meetings, quality improvement, and special projects; support workflow improvements.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and uphold ICARE values in daily practice.
