Job summary

Vir Biotechnology is seeking a Senior Director, Clinical Research Oncology Program Executive, located in San Francisco, to lead one or more oncology development programs and serve as the single accountable leader for program strategy, execution, and cross-functional leadership.

The role interfaces with executive leadership to shape direction, prioritize investments, and ensure successful execution of the oncology portfolio.

Qualifications

MD or PhD with board certification in Oncology, Hematology/Oncology, or related specialty preferred.
15+ years of biotech/pharma industry experience with substantial oncology drug development experience.
Experience leading cross-functional development programs in a matrix environment.
Demonstrated success guiding oncology development across early and late stages.
Strong executive communication, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.

Responsibilities

Serve as cross-functional leader and single point of accountability for one or more oncology development programs.
Define and drive overall program vision, clinical development strategy, milestones, and integrated plans.
Lead cross-functional program teams to align on objectives, timelines, resources, and risk mitigation.
Partner with executive leadership to support strategic decision-making and portfolio prioritization.
Ensure programs are resourced and provide oversight on major budget and investment decisions.
Guide development strategy, trial planning, data interpretation, and key program decisions.
