Job summary

Illinois CancerCare is looking for a full-time Phlebotomist to join our clinical team. The role is Monday–Friday with no weekends or major holidays, offering a strong work-life balance. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, proper documentation, inventory management, and specimen processing. Travel to outside clinics may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• One year of phlebotomy experience.
• ASCP or other approved professional certification preferred.
• BLS/CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs phlebotomy and collects appropriate specimens from patients as ordered.
• Maintains proper documentation as described by the quality assurance program.
• Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and ensures supplies are viable for patient collection.
• Sends specimens to reference laboratories for testing not performed in house.
• Processes incoming orders for lab testing and in-house reports.
• Keeps daily paperwork, lab logs and maintenance logs up to date.
• Ensures proper identification and labeling of specimens for transfusion when applicable.
• Operates laboratory equipment and maintains work area in a clean, safe condition.
• Follows CLIA guidelines for waived tests and adheres to OSHA standards.
