Summit Health Management is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to join our lab team. The role involves drawing blood using aseptic technique, processing specimens, and handling a variety of tests across satellite locations within the region.

Responsibilities include preparing specimens, collecting 24-hour samples, performing rapid tests, maintaining LIS entries, and training new staff. The position requires mobility between satellite sites and a commitment to high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience required; drug screen collection preferred.
• Phlebotomy Technician Certification through the National Health Career Association (NHA) preferred; may be required for specific locations.

Responsibilities

• Uses aseptic technique to draw blood cultures.
• Processes Stat specimens per SOP.
• Prepares collection containers with preservatives and instructs home collection for urine/stool samples.
• Collects 24-hour urine volumes and COC Urine Drug Screens.
• Administers and collects H. pylori Breath tests.
• Handles orders on minors with proper labeling and documentation.
• Maintains accurate lab paperwork and labeling for OVH Blood Bank specimens.
• Monitors inventory and replenishes supplies in the phlebotomy area.
• Performs and logs Rapid Strep and Hemoccult tests; notifies physicians of critical results.
• Trains new staff in lab policies and procedures.
