Job summary

City of Hope Orange County is seeking a Clinical Nurse in the Pre- and Post-Operative unit in Irvine. The role supports patients preparing for surgery and recovering from anesthesia and surgery, ensuring safety, comfort, and smooth transition from OR to PACU.

The successful candidate will hold a California RN license, with a BSN or MSN, at least three years of PACU or critical care experience, and current BLS and ACLS certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing required.
• Current California RN license.
• Minimum of three years related experience; PACU or critical care preferred.
• BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association).
• ACLS Certification (American Heart Association).

Responsibilities

• Pre-operative assessments including medical history, vital signs, allergies, and medication reconciliation.
• Educate patients and families about surgical procedures, anesthesia, and post-op expectations.
• Coordinate with the surgical and anesthesia teams to ensure patient readiness.
• Monitor and care for patients in the recovery room; manage pain and postoperative medications.
• Provide discharge education and tailored post-op instructions for oncology patients.
