Job summary

Trinity Health Oakland Hospital in Michigan is seeking a Patient Support Technician to join the Acute Oncology unit on a full-time daytime schedule (7am-7:30pm, every 3rd weekend). The role provides direct patient care under RN supervision, supports unit flow, and participates in patient education and safety initiatives.

The position emphasizes relationship-based care, accurate charting, vitals monitoring, ADL assistance, and coordination with physicians and other departments.

Qualifications

• 6 months direct patient care experience within past 5 years.
• Completion of one Medical/Surgical clinical rotation in a nursing educational program.
• Completion of a "Patient Care Technician" program that requires successful completion of an externship in an acute care facility.
• Previous Health Unit Coordinator/Unit Secretary working experience.
• Graduation from an accredited high school or GED program.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care under RN supervision, including vitals, monitoring, and comfort measures.
• Performs venipuncture, 12-lead EKG, blood glucose collection and monitoring.
• Assists with ADLs and basic bedside care.
• Maintains patient medical records and unit census.
• Manages communication with physicians and other departments.
• Participates in admission processes and patient education.
