Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT) to support direct patient care under RN supervision. You will assist with ADLs and help create a safe, clean, and compassionate healing environment.

The role includes collecting specimens, managing IV access, and documenting patient data. Training is provided, with opportunities in oncology units and a focus on relationship-based care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year direct care experience or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA or EMT.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• The PCT assists patients in completing ADLs including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation with assistive devices and feeding/menu selection.
• A PCT collects and sends specimens including blood and blood cultures and inserts/removes peripheral IV catheters; they record patient information and required data for documentation.

Position Purpose

The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

Required Education / Licensure

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

What you will do

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• The PCT assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
• A PCT will collects and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and inserts and removes peripheral IV catheters. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
• Patients served include adults with hematologic and oncologic illness, including solid tumors, malignancies, and terminal illness.
• We offer a variety of therapeutic interventions, from chemotherapy to palliative care services.
