Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking an Oncology Patient Coordinator to support care coordination for oncology patients. The role acts as the primary contact for new and existing patient referrals, performing registration, and delivering excellent patient-focused service.

You will collaborate with the oncology team to maximize patient flow, liaise with service areas, and advocate for patient needs within the healthcare system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree and 1 year healthcare experience required, or high school diploma with 5 years in referral management.
• Knowledge of medical terminology; strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and in teams; multitask and prioritize in a busy environment.
• Prior experience with hospital information systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in directing their healthcare experience through screening and education.
• Serve as patient liaison to schedule within the complex system.
• Advocate for patients by identifying care gaps and coordinating interventions with RN Navigator.
