Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO is seeking a Part-Time Patient Care Associate (PCA) to assist in individualized patient care under the direction of an RN or LPN. This 16 hours/week, 12-hour day shift role emphasizes teamwork and hands-on support across oncology services.

No prior experience is required; Mercy offers a 175-hour training program and a career ladder (PCA, PCT, NT) based on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience: None required. If no previous experience, Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program meeting Missouri health dept. requirements.
• Preferred Experience: EMT, Paramedic or previous patient care experience (e.g. PCA, CNA, or nursing student).
• Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, CNA/CPTC; or enrolled in healthcare program and/or a Mercy coworker.
• Certifications: BLS required within 1 month; PCA competencies within 3 months; CNA/EMT/AUA/CPCT certifications preferred.
• Other: Physical requirements include frequent lifting up to 50 pounds and prolonged standing/walking.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient’s highest level of wellness.
• Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals.
• Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical tasks essential to patient care.

Education
