Job summary

Jobtailor is recruiting for a Hospital Patient Registration/Financial Services Specialist in Tucson, AZ. You will manage pre-registration, verify coverages, obtain authorizations, and counsel patients on payments within a high-volume oncology setting.

Responsibilities include coordinating with care teams, documenting data, and ensuring compliance with Medicare/Medicaid and payer requirements while supporting patients toward funding options.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in social work, healthcare administration or finance.
• Minimum three years in hospital Patient Registration/Financial Services.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Understanding of insurance/payor types and authorization requirements.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Accurate keyboarding and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-registration and registration processes.
• Partner with clinical care teams to determine initial authorizations.
• Obtain insurance benefit information for inpatient, outpatient, prescriptions, travel and housing when needed.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations and notifications throughout treatment.
• Obtain required signatures and documentation.
• Document insurance and authorization information accurately in patient records.
• Monitor and update insurance data, authorizations, and treatment-plan changes.
• Provide financial counseling to patients and families.
• Explain benefits, billing issues and company financial policies.
• Assist with coverage gaps through alternative funding options.
• Provide financial advocacy and help uninsured patients access funding resources.
• Maintain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and other program benefits.
• Liaise among patients, PFS department and payers to resolve issues and improve accounts receivable.
• Calculate patient liability and collect deposits and co-pays.
• May provide leadership and training to financial team members.
• Work independently in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing patient care and reimbursement needs.
• Serve as the primary contact for financial aspects of Oncology care and collaborate with internal and external customers.
