Job summary

American Oncology Network, Inc. is seeking a registered nurse to handle patient calls, coordinate with nurses and physicians, and ensure proper patient care across multiple clinic locations. The role requires nursing licensure, CPR/BLS certifications, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities include logging calls, charting decisions, contacting ER when needed, and managing prescriptions per protocol. Travel to other clinics and overtime may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• Nursing Degree required.
• RN license in state of employment.
• Current CPR and BLS certifications.
• Valid driver’s license and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed.
• Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Answers phone calls from patients and home health agencies, using nursing assessment skills to determine the nature and urgency of the call.
• Keep daily log of incoming calls and chart decisions made.
• Pull patient charts to accompany messages for nurses and doctors.
• Discuss steps with physicians to ensure proper patient care and appropriate orders.
• Explain abnormal labs or tests to physicians so appropriate actions can be taken.
• Address hospice and home health agency questions and document physician decisions.
• Contact emergency rooms with explanations, diagnosis, and contact info for physicians.
• Handle prescription refill requests per company procedure.
• Work at any Company location and be prepared for overtime as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
