Job summary

US Oncology Network-wide Career Opportunities is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians and clinicians in a fast-paced oncology/hematology clinic in California. Under supervision, you will handle patient intake, vitals, and clerical tasks to promote efficient patient flow and care.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
  • 1 year Ambulatory experience preferred.
  • 1 year EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
  • Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtain all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
  • Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
  • Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Answer patient telephone calls for referrals to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
  • Inform physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
  • Perform other administrative duties as requested by supervisor or physician.
