Job summary

Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert, AZ is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians and nursing staff in delivering direct patient care in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

The role includes taking vital signs, assisting with exams, performing EKGs and phlebotomy, handling documentation and patient scheduling, and maintaining exam rooms with a focus on patient experience and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.
• Active Medical Assistant Certification is required. Certification or additional training must meet the requirements for Meaningful use.
• BLS certification required.
• An Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card may be required for certain behavioral health settings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assist with exams by recording vital signs and documenting chief complaints.
• Assist providers with exams and minor procedures and manage patient flow.
• Coordinate and manage patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, and scheduling.
• Provide clerical support and ensure complete medical records and billing information.
• Maintain clean exam rooms and sterilize equipment following safety guidelines.
• Order supplies and stock patient care areas.
• Communicate effectively with patients and external/internal teammates to support care.
• Complete onboarding/orientation activities and work under supervision of providers.
• Interact with various staff and external contacts to support patient care.
