Job summary

Texas Oncology in Kingwood, TX is seeking a Certified IV Admixture Technician to join a full-time team. The role may be Level I, II, or Senior based on experience; schedule is Monday–Friday 8:30am–5pm with no weekends or major holidays.

The Pharmacy Admixture Technician works under supervision to prepare, verify, and dispense medications, adheres to the Compliance Program, and performs duties in accordance with state regulations and department guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Entry level to three (3) years experience in a pharmacy.
• IV Certification strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Checks all orders for completeness of information.
• Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization.
• Checks all orders for insurance approval before admixing.
• Under a professional's supervision, admixes drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner as per department guidelines.
• Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents; maintains indigent patient drug program as needed.
• Counts controlled drugs weekly and maintain records; keeps accurate logs and MSDS sheets; disposes materials appropriately.
• Maintains drug information and temperature logs; maintains required documentation and quality assurance records.
